How Branding Is Really Built: From Concepts to Concrete Deliverables
As someone pursuing a second degree in Marketing (with a first background in Design), I’ve become fascinated with branding and the strategic work that underpins it. My design studies sparked a passion for branding, and I’m now exploring how strategic branding unfolds in practice—beyond the flashy concepts.
Many branding courses focus on definitions and theory, but I’m looking for courses that show how to actually build a brand. I’m interested in what happens in each phase, what deliverables are produced, and which tools and methodologies are used. I recently found a course that seems to promise a practical, end-to-end view, but enrollment hasn’t opened yet.
My question is twofold:
1) What actually gets done during the key stages of a branding process? I’m not asking for a step-by-step checklist; I’m seeking a realistic breakdown of how the work flows, how elements are explored, and how decisions are made. Specifically, how are things like tone of voice and target audience defined in practice?
2) Which branding courses or programs offer hands-on, implementable content rather than purely theoretical concepts? I’d appreciate recommendations for courses that emphasize real-world applications and deliverables.
If you’ve navigated branding programs or managed branding projects, I’d love to hear about your experiences, the stages you went through, and the tools you found most valuable. Thanks in advance for any insights or course recommendations.
